Animal Haven KC

Established in 1966, Animal Haven is one of greater Kansas City’s largest non-profit, no-kill animal shelters. Animal Haven serves the community as both an adoption center and as the largest organization that manages lost/stray pets for twelve cities and municipalities in Johnson County, Kansas. Animal Haven cares for more than 4,000 abandoned, abused and unwanted pets each year and works full time to reunite lost pets with their owners. We maintain a strong working relationship with the Kansas Animal Health Department and other area municipal shelters to transfer pets into our adoption program that are at risk of being euthanized. Our primary objective is to place pets into lifelong, caring homes through adoptions and lost pet reunions and to provide a higher quality of life for homeless pets through education and collaboration with the animal welfare community.

The mission of Solace House is to provide a safe and understanding environment where grieving children and their families can obtain support from counselors, trained volunteer facilitators, and other families in similar situations. We recognize and honor the unique experience of every family’s journey toward healing. Solace House provides support groups, counseling services, professional referrals and resources to assist grieving families. Solace House receives calls nearly every day from families that have suffered a loss as a result of an illness, unexpected accident, pregnancy loss, or by an experience related to a homicide or suicide. No matter what the reason, these families call Solace House because they are in pain and are seeking support, guidance and community connection.
